A unique land, with its own climate and two utopian varieties - mencía and godello - increasingly valued in the markets. An ancestral know-how that goes back more than 2,000 years and has evolved in recent years to place the Bierzo as the fastest growing Denomination of Origin in Spain.
The region is a large tectonic basin irrigated by different rivers and surrounded by a mountainous crown that protects and delimits it. The vineyards are strategically located on terraces with little slope, near the rivers, on semi-terraced slopes and on land with an average altitude between 450 and 1,000 meters.
Bierzo is said to have a very special microclimate - halfway between the Atlantic and the continental, with cool winters and mild summers - maintaining a temperature without major fluctuations throughout the year. This semi-humid climate with mild temperatures favors extraordinarily the cultivation of life.
Arribes is a Spanish wine appellation of origin that legally protects the production of grapes and the production, aging and marketing of wines in the area where the Duero River joins the provinces of Salamanca and Zamora, both in the autonomous community of Castilla y León.
Arlanza is a wine appellation of origin established in 2005 for wines produced in the middle and lower valley of the Arlanza river, in the provinces of Burgos and Palencia. Ribera del Arlanza wines are grown in vineyards in 62 municipalities, 50 in Burgos, with nine wineries, and 13 in Palencia, with two wineries.
